Presidents Week is a great time to escape the cold February weather at home and to sail around the Caribbean onboard SY Pacific Wave. We’re currently available for charter in the beautiful British Virgin Islands and in mid February you can expect temperatures of around 86f with sea temperatures of around 82f and trade winds that are perfect for some great sailing. The islands are looking really green again and Mother Nature has been lending a helping hand to the islands speedy recovery after the summer hurricanes. The bays are empty so if you like deserted anchorage, with great sailing this is the perfect vacation for you. Swimming and snorkeling is fantastic and currently visibility is 50 – 75ft. We have just been snorkeling with a large Spotted Eagle Ray that was circling around Pacific Wave. If you would like to do some Scuba Diving on vacation we can arrange rendezvous dives for you with a small local professional dive shop.
An all-inclusive charter onboard Pacific Wave includes 3 meals per day onboard the yacht and a free Ships Bar, all the running costs of the yacht and also the BVI cruising taxes and permits are all included in the cost of your charter. You’ll be amazed how reasonable our rates are compared to chartering a bareboat with all the additional costs added on. So why do it yourself on a small GRP yacht when you can be sailing around the Caribbean on a beautiful elegant 72ft Italian monohull with owner operators Lynn & Mark! Having been based in the BVI for the past 10 years we know all of the best spots to anchor and great snorkeling sites.
To wet your appetite as to what you can expect on a typical charter starting from St Thomas. We would meet you at the Cyril E King Airport in St Thomas with a cab; it’s only a short 10 minute drive to Yacht Haven Grande Marina on St Thomas where Pacific Wave would be moored to meet you. After a safety briefing we would set sail to the laid back island of St John where we would moor in Francis Bay. Here you can swim with turtles, take a stroll along the beautiful white sandy beach of either Francis Bay or Maho Bay, unpack and relax prior to dinner beneath the stars.
Day two we’re heading to the British Virgin Islands first calling at West End on Tortola in the BVI to undertake the Customs and Immigration clearance and then sailing to Norman Island. On Norman Island we have a choice of two fantastic anchorages a quiet anchorage with very few boats or anchoring in The Bight with the famous Pirates Bight restaurant and bar. Norman Island is home to the famous Caves where many years ago a pirates treasure stash was found.
Day three after breakfast and a swim around Pacific Wave we’ll sail to Peter Island and anchor in Great Harbour. This is a good spot to take our Eco-friendly Rigid Kayaks out for a spin around the anchorage and to enjoy an easy snorkel in this protected anchorage.
Day four is a long day sail up to North Sound on Virgin Gorda where we’ll anchor behind Prickly Pear Island. They’ll still be time for a swim when we arrive and a stroll along the beach.
Day five take a trip on Virgin Gorda, we can arrange everything for you. Visit the famous Baths and climb amongst giant granite boulders, then to the Copper Mine on the south side of the island and stop on the way back to Pacific Wave to take some fantastic panoramic shots of both South Sound and North Sound with the glowing turquoise waters, it’s a sight to behold!
Day six we’ll set sail to the private Guana Island. Here you can enjoy a great lunch onboard followed by a snorkel around Monkey Point and a stroll along White Bay Beach, it’s stunning!
Day seven we’ll sail to Jost Van Dyke where you can visit the Robinson Crusoe type island called Sandy Cay or if you prefer pay a visit to Foxys Bar in Great Harbour. In the afternoon we’ll sail back to St Thomas to Yacht Haven Grande Marina ready for our customs appointment the following morning.
Day eight after breakfast everyone has to attend a private Customs appointment located at the marina and then you have time to pack and take a quick dip in the marinas private swimming pool that is only open to yacht guests, and then sadly it’s time to take a cab back to the airport to fly home, again we fix up all of the transfers for you.
We’ve got a great Winter Special available for 2 guests booking and sailing on Pacific Wave prior to 30 April 2018 save $2,500 off the price of your charter! So if you can’t join us in February, you’ve still got time to sail with us before we head south to the Grenadines for the summer months.
